Last week after we received several quotes for boat painting and with much deliberation we came to the decision to take the boat out of the water with Townsville Slipway this coming Monday. In one respect it is a relief to know the work will be conducted on the boat in the near future. However, we are now faced with a week or two of some seriously hard work.
Thankfully for us, a gorgeous couple named Trish and Lester who we moored next to at the Breakwater Marina were heading to Rattlesnake Island this weekend and asked if we would like to join them. We were due to leave the Marina on Friday which coincided with the day Lester and Trish were heading out, so we organised ourselves to join them.
Yesterday (being Friday), we found ourselves sitting on the beach of Herald Island under one of the few trees offering shade looking back at our boats, the blue water and the many islands and land masses in the distance. The low lying clouds that hovered around in the morning for our dismal trip over had cleared and made way for an absolutely perfect afternoon. We sat there under our shady tree for several hours with our cooler bag cooled glasses of beer, wine and cider, nibbling on Philly cheese and crackers discussing the fine world of boating. It was just magic and I promise to post some pictures soon.
