A well earned diversion

A function in Melbourne in August has us heading south from the Whitsunday’s. So, we will head for land and organise to park the boat for a month whilst we retrieve the car from Bundaberg. We had options of either Abel Point Marina, Laguna or Mackay. Mackay was in our original plans but my dad moved out and headed for Brisbane so Dave and I figured there was no longer a need to travel as far south as Mackay given the predominant south-east winds. Here is a picture of Pentecost Island which is south of Hamilton.

Not having to get back to Mackay also meant we had time for another stop over somewhere near by – so we decided to head for Lindeman Island.
A club med destination and yacht friendly with moorings out the front of the resort. Day visit packages offering all you can eat and drink for breakfast, lunch or dinner. We opted for the dinner package and arriving at around 2pm we sat at the pool for several hours enjoying the sun, several cocktails and the delightful surrounding.

We caught a bus up to the top of the island and manage to time it for a magic sunset over the golf course. All loaded up with our shower gear we took a desperately needed hot shower (which is still a privillage and not achievable aboard our boat regardless of the thousands of dollars paid to Hervey Bay marine).
The evening was topped off with a buffet dinner, wine and Karaoke for entertainment. We met a couple from Canberra with three kids who live in Mawson. We didn’t work hard enough on making a connection but I am convinced there would of been one somewhere.
