Annual Maintenance

Time has rolled around again for our annual maintenance program. The previous owner had anti-fouled the boat every 12 months and we have decided to maintain the same ritual. This time however the task has become a lot bigger. After numerous attempts to contain rust spots on the deck, we bit the bullet and decided to paint the whole boat. Living aboard whilst the boat is being sanded, blasted and ground is an experience we only wish to entertain the once. It became so noisy that Princess decided to abandoned ship and went to live aboard another boat – much to the owner’s disgust and our anguish over her whereabouts.

With all hatches taped, sealed, air and dust proof the internal temperature of the boat has risen to 38 degrees which is similar to sauna temperatures for us. We have been informed by day 3 we can let a bit of air into our boat which we are greatly looking forward to.

Here we are anchored on the slip!! We had to drop our anchor in order to get to spots of rust under the pulpit.
