Picnic Bay

Today we took a bus ride to Picnic Bay which is located on the Townsville side of Magnetic Island (approx 30min bus ride from Horseshoe Bay). The wharf featured below was used as the main ferry terminal up and until 3 years ago when it was relocated to Nellie Bay. Businesses at Picnic Bay are still recovering from the loss of trade. Our main aim for the day was to check out the local anchorage areas as we are contemplating a move around to this side of the island, hoping we may find better tv reception. Oh, and we caught the first half of the V8 supercar race at Bathurst at Picnic Bay – they had it broadcasted on the tv at the local eatery/pub.
