Arrived on Magnetic 27 September 2007 and what a treat. As soon as I saw the shore I wanted to launch the tender. Dave took an unexpected swim that takes his count to two. Princess still leads the count at 3 although it has been some 8 months since her last dip. We anchored near…

Airlie to Magnetic Island
From Airlie we stopped overnight at Double Bay, Gloucester Passage, Cape Upstart, Cape Bowling Green. This meant our sailing days were short giving us plenty of time at each destination. We stayed aboard for the entire four days.
Airlie Beach
Enjoyed our Stay. Very pretty, scenic & sunsets a real treat. The anchorage was a bit rolly & tender rides to shore were always exciting. Abel Point was the most expensive marina we have come across. It also had the most yachts anchored outside it.
Laguna
After our trip down to Melbourne via plane we are now ready to move on. Laguna boasts a superb golf course so we made sure we played 18 holes of golf before we left. A few items were purchased for the generator, supplies were re-stocked and we headed for Shute Harbour. Whilst it was difficult…
A well earned diversion
A function in Melbourne in August has us heading south from the Whitsunday’s. So, we will head for land and organise to park the boat for a month whilst we retrieve the car from Bundaberg. We had options of either Abel Point Marina, Laguna or Mackay. Mackay was in our original plans but my dad…
The Whitsundays
A morning sail from Macona Inlet, has us anchored in Tongue Bay. I am still nervous about these waters and decline any offers for coffee. We went ashore and found a great walking track which takes us up to this lookout. Here we are up at the lookout. Our next sail was around to visit…
Exploration Day
At Macona inlet we went ashore to explore. Here are some pictures from our days exploration.
Hamilton Island
We met with James and Lisa and wined and dined the evenings away, sailed around to Whitehaven Beach and lit the barbeque for lunch. After saying good bye to James and Lisa we opted to stay at the marina for a further two nights. The comforts of tv reception and given a formula 1 was…
Island Head to Middle Percy
The lack of water put added pressure on us to move on even though the wind was still blowing 20-25knots and seas to 2.2metres. As we started out, it was rough and we had at least 6 hours of these conditions ahead of us. Later in the day as we changed course and headed with…
Humbling Experiences
Here we are anchored next to this lovely lighthouse at Sea Hill Point. A very comfortable anchorage resulting in a sound sleep. In fact we slept so soundly that we did not notice we were dragging anchor and when we woke we found ourselves 1 mile up and around the corner from where we had…
